Britain's Great Immigration Disaster
Anotace: In the long history of Britain as an independent nation all of the immigrant groups who ever reached our shores never amounted to more than one per cent of the population...before 1997. Dědic trůnu, Alfredův syn Edward, je však ještě příliš mladý a nezkušený a dánští vůdci, kteří tolikrát neuspěli v pokusech o dobytí Wessexu, cítí novou příležitost. Jako první z nich vtrhne do země Harald Krvavý vlas, podněcovaný svou milenkou Skade. Alfredovi však stále věrně slouží válečník Uhtred z Bebbanburgu, který zavede Haralda do pasti a u dnešního Farnhamu v hrabství Surrey uštědří Dánům jednu z nejtěžších porážek. Boj s Dány, popsaný v knize Bledý jezdec, se odehrál ve Wessexu, avšak děj Pánů severu přenesl autor na sever do Northumbrie, domoviny hlavního hrdiny Uhtreda z Bebbanburgu, ale také země pánů soupeřících mezi sebou o moc, z nichž žádný neměl důvod mít Uhtreda rád a dva z nich si přáli jeho smrt. „Přesto to byl můj domov,“ vypráví Uhtred, „navíc tam na mě čekal úkol pomstít vraždu mého druhého otce. Anotace: Bledý jezdec navazuje na román Poslední království, první díl této Cornwellovy ságy. Na konci 9. století se téměř celá Anglie ocitá v rukou dobyvačných vikinských, především dánských kmenů a odolává jim pouze západosaské království pod vládou krále Alfreda. Dánové, jak jsou tito Vikingové nazýváni, však chtějí dobýt i Wessex a přitáhnou s velkým vojskem, aby si podmanili i tuto poslední zemi. Po jejich zrádném vpádu do Wessexu, když dánský vojevůdce Guthrum porušil sjednaný mír, je Alfred nucen uchýlit se jako psanec s nepočetným houfem věrných do bažinaté oblasti kolem ústí řeky Pedredan. Zdá se, že osud jeho království a tím i celé Anglie je zpečetěn. Alfred se však nevzdává, rozesílá do všech koutů země posly a pomalu shromažďuje vojsko, s nímž chce vytáhnout proti Dánům do boje, porazit je, a tak zbavit Anglii jejich vlivu, aby ji mohl později sjednotit pod svou korunou. Se shromažďováním vojska mu vydatně pomáhá Uhtred, který má také hlavní zásluhu na vítězství Sasů v rozhodující bitvě u Ethandunu. Uhtred, potomek northumbrijského velmože, v deseti letech osiřel, padl do zajetí Dánů a v jejich zemi vyrostl v muže, byl vycvičen na válečníka a přijal za své vikinské způsoby. Třebaže pro něj není z mnoha důvodů lehké se rozhodnout, ke které straně se přidat, v pravou chvíli si uvědomuje, že je Sas, a odhodlaně se postaví po bok krále Alfreda. V nesnadném Uhtredově dilematu hraje rovněž roli zásadní odlišnost osobností obou mužů. Král Alfred, velmi zbožný křesťan a vzdělaný člověk, nemá Uhtreda příliš rád, neboť ho považuje za pohana a arogantního válečníka se způsoby barbarských Vikingů, a Uhtred má zase králi za zlé, že se obklopuje kněžími a nechává se jimi příliš ovlivňovat. Přesto se tito dva muži ocitnou vedle sebe v jedné bojové řadě a jejich komplikované spojenectví vede saské vojsko do boje o samu existenci Anglie. Tím však Uhtredovo váhání, ke které straně se věrně a navždy přidat, nekončí… Poslední království

Anotace: Je pozdní léto roku 1862 a Konfederace konečně podnikla vpád do Spojených států amerických. Nathaniel Starbuck, syn seveřanského kazatele, bojující na straně vzbouřeneckého Jihu, je jmenován velitelem trestného pluku, opovrhovaného útvaru ulejváků a zbabělců. Jeho nepřátelé očekávají, že toto jmenování bude znamenat jeho pád. Aby je vyvedl z omylu, musí Starbuck rozklížený útvar vést do boje proti seveřanské posádce v Harper’s Ferry a pak přes hranici na břehy říčky Antietam, kde bojuje v bitvě, jež se stane nejkrvavějším střetem občanské války. Ve strhujícím závěru díla vítězí Artuš s pomocí Excaliburu, posvátného meče, obdařeného kouzelnou mocí druidů a nejcennějšího z Merlinových pokladů. Smrtelně zraněn svěřuje Artuš svými posledními slovy Excalibur Derfelovi, aby ho vrhl do vln a spolu s ním pohřbil na mořském dně i starou keltskou víru a legendární období anglické historie.
