Navždy vděčná vaše inteligence umělá
Anotace: Myslíte si, že umělá inteligence je jen dalším pokrokem v technologii, nebo stojíme na prahu něčeho, co překročí vše, co jsme doposud znali? Koukolíkova kniha se tedy ptá: Jsme připraveni na možnost, že biologická inteligence a vědomí budou nahrazeny digitální inteligencí a vědomím? From the Ancient Near East to Christian Byzantium
Kings, Symbols, and Cities
Anotace: This book combines concepts from the history of religions with Byzantine studies in its assessments of kings, symbols, and cities in a diachronic and cross-cultural analysis. The work attests, firstly, that the symbolic art and architecture of ancient cities—commissioned by their monarchs expressing their relationship with their gods—show us that religiosity was inherent to such enterprises. It also demonstrates that what transpired from the first cities in history to Byzantine Christendom is the gradual replacement of the pagan ruler cult—which was inherent to city-building in antiquity—with the ruler becoming subordinate to Christ; exemplified by representations of the latter as the ‘Master of All’ (Pantokrator). Beginning in Mesopotamia, the book continues with an analysis of city-building by rulers in Egypt, Greece, and Rome, before addressing Judaism (specifically, the city of Jerusalem) and Christianity as shifting the emphasis away from pagan gods and rulers to monotheistic perceptions of God as elevated above worldly kings. Anotace: Chruščovova vláda v Sovětském svazu (1953–1964) je jedním z velkých témat novodobé historiografie. V komunistickém dějepisectví byla dlouhá léta naprosté tabu, až do poloviny osmdesátých let dvacátého století Chruščov pro historiky tohoto světa v podstatě neexistoval. Dnes ho ruská historiografie považuje za jednoho z „nejbarvitějších“ domácích politiků dvacátého století. Hlásil se k němu Gorbačov, v současnosti je však jeho hodnocení většinou relativizováno. Překvapující ovšem je, že sovětský totalitní režim umožnil, aby se do čela státu a tím i světové politiky dostal tak nepřipravený jedinec, disponující převážně jen nezměrnou touhou po moci, jehož politická činnost byla až příliš často neodpovědným hazardem. Stalinská transformace v Sovětském svazu 1928-1934
Anotace: Historický vývoj posledních století je svým způsobem bojem mezi demokracií a různými typy diktatur. Zvláštním případem je Rusko, které sice po revoluci 1904-1905 zahájilo pomalý postup k oslabení samoděržaví, avšak ten byl na téměř celé jedno století zastaven první světovou válkou a Říjnem 1917. Nová bolševická moc radikálně změnila sociální a hospodářskou strukturu země a další drastické změny jí vtiskl stalinský totalitní režim, který nastoupil na přelomu 20. a 30. let minulého století. Změny, které tento režim od konce 40. let posléze aplikoval také na země sovětského bloku, včetně Československa. Některé důsledky stalinské transformace jsou stále ještě zřetelné.
